One nine o’clock evening a couple weeks before finals, my roommate and I decided that we were done with studying. We were sleep-deprived, brain-dead, and completely drained of creative energy from blitzing research papers and group project meetings and marathon practice tests.

(Sound familiar, college students?)

So we decided to ditch the studying and go to bed immediately. Then we’d wake up at 4am, get a bowl of ice cream each, and study like mad before classes.

And that is the story of how I got into the pattern of waking up four hours before the rest of world to get my studying, exercise, and breakfast done, all before I’ve had the mind to crack open my emails or check Facebook.

It’s almost bliss.
